PERSEPOLIS

With the memoir’s capabilities to permit reflection, I was somewhat put off by the absence of appreciation in the text.  As a woman of Iran, Satrapi is extremely fortunate in being given an escape to the West, considering how her attitude to rebel was getting her into quite some trouble; as she was going to be executed.  However, she doesn’t take full advantage of this opportunity, not seeming to value it.   Which is totally understandable, since she undergoes an identity crisis.
