CARL BARKS
In class I found my reading on one Carl Barks’
Uncle Scrooge comics to be quite consistent in how his high-quality
illustration work matched with captivating storytelling. You could tell that he wanted these
characters to feel real and be relatable, in the way that they interacted with
each other, and not like the typical funny animal comics. Donald and his
nephews are portrayed far more intelligent than that of their original
cartoons. Barks not only ups the complexity of the characters, but also the
complexity of the scenes. Often traveling to exotic locations with an
adventurous feel, such as when they took Scrooge camping, which happened to be
in one of the comics I read class.
